Now I know we are in the full midst of autumn but I couldn’t resist posting a pretty daisy print. This cutesy pattern will brighten your day and lift your mood instantly. Autumn doesn’t quite have the glow of summer and so inject some energy into your wardrobe and play around with colourful feminine prints this season. I’ve styled this cute daisy print dress with contrasting yellow heels by Yull and a rustic brown leather mini fringed bag that I picked up from a market on my travels. Simply style with opaque tights, ankle boots and a long woolen overcoat for these colder autumn months. The cinched in waist on this dress gives you a refined neat silhouette and the cap sleeve is forgiving for those of you conscious of the tops of your arms. The A-Line shape is great for covering the thighs and bottom if you’re ‘having one of those days’ and if you are broad shouldered, this shape beautifully balances you out. The shear panel close to the hemline of the dress gives it a sexy fun twist and the low back offers that glint of sophistication.

Here is my pick of vibrant floral pieces that are guaranteed to keep you standing out from the crowd this autumn!

I’m back to one of my most talked about subject’s… floral prints. Yes ladies they are back again for SS14. My look took inspiration from the designers this season. I’m wearing a beautiful floral print dress by queen of chic Victoria Beckham. The dress is simple in design, much like her collection, yet has a beautiful sophistication about it. The blue tones in the dress are perfectly complimenting against my cool skin tone and offer a bright and fresh colour palette for the approaching summer months. To find out what skin tone you are and the colours that compliment you take a look at my YouTube video, to visit simply click here. I teamed the dress with a pair of white and yellow shoes by Yull Shoes, they perfectly contrast with the dress and so keeps the look gorgeously contrived. All that was needed to complete the look was a simple white clutch for concealing all of my daytime essentials.

You can hire this exact VB dress from the Girl Meets Dress website via this link and the shoes can be purchased from the Yull website via this link. If you don’t quite have the budget to splurge on a designer dress for that special occasion, worry not becuase Girl Meets Dress allows you to hire an array of beautiful dresses at irrestible prices, you can choose from hundreds of designers and styles and so you are sure to find one that suits you and your body shape. I put together a YouTube video featuring my current favourite picks from the Girl Meets Dress website that are relevant to this seasons SS14 trends and I even reveal some top tips on what body shapes they are particularly suited to, to visit just click here.

Big floral prints are set to make a statement for Spring Summer ’14. Florals are a continuous favourite season after season and so it’s wise to stock up on this feminine print, and this season the bigger the blooms the better! Matthew Williamson and Temperley opted for candy colour palettes and abstract florals whilst Christopher Kane took this trend down the technical route. To create a more modern look, Jonathan Saunders mixed floral prints and palettes. Go all out and work a statement head-to-toe but if this is too much for you then simply add just a hint to your look with floral print accessories. A versatile look option would be to do as I have done here and funk up a regular denim jean with a floral print paired down with that all time classic roll neck – voila! I finished off this creation with soft grey suede wrap-around boots, which add a quirky interest.

Monochrome is set to make a big come back for SS14. The Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort collection showed evidence of black and white styling and put real emphasis on texture and embellishment. Chloe opted for relaxed androgynous monochrome styles, Balenciaga went head-to-toe monochrome, and wardrobe essentials in black and white took centre stage at Victoria Beckham.

Black and white when paired together always looks effortlessly stylish. For this look, I paired a monochrome print shift dress from Motel with an oversized woolen print shawl. The shift dress has a sixties feel to it, and we saw a focus on sixties monochrome in the Saint Laurent menswear Resort collections. I kept the look very relaxed with some monochrome tassel loafers from Ravel and plain black opaque tights, an absolute winter wardrobe essential. Clashing prints is always fun and you can afford to push the boundaries with this styling technique when working with black and white. Clashing prints will work to give your look a modernized funky edge.

Whether you choose to make a statement in monochrome or work it delicately through your look in the way of accessories, this trend is always guaranteed to give you a chic up to date look. It looks great on women of all ages and body shapes and whether you’re a red head, blonde or brunette, you will equally look great in black and white.

Winter doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom when it comes to your wardrobe. Brighten up your neutral basics with bright pops of colour to enhance your complexion. We all have different undertones in our skin that determine whether we have a warm or cool skin tone; this in turn determines which colours best suit us. There is a very simple test that you can do at home to help you discover which colour skin tone you have. Simply look at the veins on your wrist palm side up in daylight, if you have a green tone to your veins you have a warm skin tone and if your veins represent more of a blue tone, then you are of a cool complexion. Warm skin tones are complemented by shades of yellow, orange, red, gold and brown. In contrast, cooler skin tones work particularly well against shades of blue, purple, pink and green.

This is just a very brief overview on colour analysis and skin tones, there is a lot more in depth knowledge you can learn. I provide bespoke personal shopping services and talk through a deeper understanding of these topics, for more information on the services I provide simply click on the following link: http://www.kaleehewlett.com/personal-stylist-2/

For this look, I styled a bright pink soft textured tee from Topshop and teamed it with a soft orange leather pencil skirt. Pink and orange sit close on the colour chart and work beautifully together. This is a great little tip to remember – any colours that sit close together on the colour chart complement each other very well, green and blue is another great pairing. I accessorized the look with a belt; a bright fuchsia leather style tied in at the waist draws the eye in and adds a stylish touch to this classic sophisticated look. Colour blocking is a sharp fun and bold styling technique that is always guaranteed to achieve a statement look.

Animal prints are always a key trend for Autumn/Winter. This season Tom Ford and Versace reinterpreted the print in monochrome pink, sequins and fur. No matter the season, this feline pattern remains luxe, glam, and timeless yet on-trend!

Some top tips on how to wear animal print… Team with bright colors. The key here is to go for only one single vibrant color. Pair with red tones for a bold statement look, combined they make for a timelessly chic duo. Another colour that looks great against animal print and is certain to stand out is green. Shades of pink, orange, purple and pastels work well with leopard print too. Opt for sepia or monochrome shades for a more elegant and refined look.

The golden rule for wearing animal print is to choose only one large part of your outfit to be the focus; it’s all about moderation. Stick to one piece at a time. If used in excess, it can veer into the trashy. It’s all about keeping it relatively minimal. If you opt for an animal print top, make sure the rest of your look is paired down. If you opt for a print dress, tone it down by teaming it with a block coloured cardigan in a shade that blends well with the print. If you feel the urge to match your prints, you can do so on your accessories provided, they don’t clash!

If you want to be effectively daring, you can try Dolce and Gabbana style. Playing with scale gives this pattern a new spin. Try layering smaller and larger prints for extra style status. If you really like to make a statement, be inspired by Kenzo who have almost infused a pop art element into the print, which makes it feel very modern.

In summary, if you don’t already own something that is animal print, it’s time to get shopping! This print makes the perfect alternative to black and navy. Pair with plain skinny jeans for a failsafe option. Look to classic designers for print pieces with longevity. Stella McCartney’s Resort 2013 collection would make for a great choice! Leopard print sits well against a tan and so perfect for the holiday season too. Always look out for unusual pieces to give you a unique distinguished look.

Try opting for some leopard print trousers; they are an on-trend way to rock the look. If you prefer something a little subtler, try a graphic print tee. Leopard is so versatile; you can simply work it in to your accessories to add personality to any outfit. A thin, printed belt instantly adds polish to dresses, jeans and trousers and pairing it with bright colors and contrasting patterns will add depth and dimension to your look.

Dungarees are a great alternative to wearing just your regular pair of jeans. Denim dungarees in particular, give a street edge to your look. I paired these dungarees with a luxury silk tee to create a polished finish. Pairing your dungarees with heels instantly smartens your outfit and adds a glamorous twist. If you prefer to keep your look sophisticated and elegant, opt for a pair in a cotton fabric, this will also give you a more mature look. Opt for a tailored style and you will be very much in keep with the androgyny trend we are seeing a lot of this fall. A leather bomber jacket completes this casual laid-back look.

                Sequins

We are soon approaching the festive party season, which means it’s time to reach for the sequins. They instantly add glamour, and if styled well they can really ‘make’ an outfit. Sequins are not just meant for the dance floor, they also make a great addition to your daytime wardrobe.

The trick to rocking sequins in a casual-glam way that looks effortlessly chic is to mix them with something more casual. I have paired a vintage sequin embellished top with some light wash distressed denim jeans and lime green heels to create a laid-back cool summer look. This look could easily transition from day to night with just a simple switch of shoes, a bronze metallic stiletto would work beautifully with the colour palette in this top and a darker tone of denim jean would smarten the look.

We often see celebrities master this casual-glam look. Sarah Jessica Parker and Olivia Palermo have been spotted wearing statement sequin jackets with casual jeans. Pairing something uber-glam, like a sequined jacket, with something totally casual, like distressed jeans, is a totally modern way to do sparkle.

Some top tips to consider when styling your sequins; remember that less is more. Your LBD would look great paired with sequin accessories, try some sparkly tights, a sequin embellished clutch or a pair of statement shoes, these are all great ways of updating your look that carries a small price tag and creates big impact.

If you are opting for a head-to-toe sequin dress for the Christmas party, be careful not to overkill. Sequins alone make a major statement. Some top style tips that will help to keep you looking gorgeously glam. Stick with a classic cut dress; avoid anything too fussy in style. Stick with one block colour or complimentary colours and make sure that the dress is a good fit and slim fitting. Sequin embellished fabric can run the risk of creating added bulk to your frame. If you opt for a sequin dress, pair the rest of your look down. Go for sleek hair, neutral shoes and keep eye shadow to a minimum. A bright red lip will be all you need to create that finishing ‘wow’ factor.

This season hints to a brighter colour palette. Its time to lighten up your winter wardrobe and your mood with bold bright colours. Yes, it’s true… colour really does have that wonderful uplifting effect and so it’s no wonder we are looking to this statement trend as the cold dark nights are drawing in. Its time to move away from head-to-toe black (NO! I hear you cry) but fret not, there are ways to work brights into your wardrobe in a way that works specifically for you. Here are my top tips to help introduce you to the beautiful world of colour.

If you already love to wear bright colours then this trend will come as a lovely addition to your already assorted wardrobe. Just as I type, Liquorish Allsorts pop in to my mind and how apt since that is a perfect way to start off with painting a picture to signify winter brights. Black teamed with fuchsia, two colours that sit in stark contrast, and for that reason they make a fabulously fashionable statement. Think about colour blocking your brights as I have done with this look.

I am wearing a floor length maxi skirt and short cropped tee by English designer Anna Popovich who launched her first collection in 2009. Anna’s collection is elegant and fun, she works with saturated colours and tactile fabrics to create a style that is modern and distinguished. I paired the two pieces together to create a striking statement head-to-toe look. The skirt has horizontal panels cutting across to separate the block colour sections and so the top works well in unison to create the colour blocking effect. I worked black accessories in to the look to stay in keep with the colour block theme and to keep the look clean, polished and sharp. The lines in the design of this two piece are very graphic and so I paired them with a black wedge heel which is far more bold in design than a feminine stiletto. A leather bomber jacket makes the perfect ‘throw on’ accompaniment to this look which has a slight ‘sports luxe’ feel to it, somewhat to do with the unique mix of luxury fabrics that Anna uses in her designs.

If head-to-toe brights isn’t for you, try experimenting with just one key statement piece and pairing the rest of your look down. The maxi skirt could be teamed with a black silk racer back vest which would hint to that sports luxe feel whilst making your look more subtle. The tee would look great worn with denim or leather pants, or a dark grey maxi skirt which would offer up a softer look to black.

The key to wearing brights is to know your skintone and what colours work for you. If this is something you wish to learn more about please visit my website kaleehewlett.com, I offer personal styling packages which include personal colour analysis.

Playsuits are great for all in one summer styling. In the mornings when you’re rushing around to make it out of the door, the playsuit becomes your best friend. A lot of the hard work is already done for you, you don’t have to think about pairing tops with bottoms, all you need to do is think about is accessorising.

A long sleeve playsuit is a great tran-seasonal piece and will suitably fit your spring summer and autumn winter wardrobe. When it comes to making it work for the right season, the details are all in the styling. For summer, simply pair with flat sandals, an oversized tote and a pair of cat eye sunglasses for a touch of 50’s glamour. The key to making your playsuit work for autumn is to master the art of layering. A faux fur gilet will add texture, warmth and a new dimension to your look. It makes a nice alternative to a winter coat, which can look too heavy worn over a short playsuit. For the winter months, team with opaque tights, a pair of knee high boots and consider accessorising with a scarf to add detail. Think about wearing your playsuit with a cropped length cape, the ‘go-to’ style of this season.

This bohemian influenced navy playsuit by Un-nye is made from a beautifully soft fabric, which instantly gives it a luxurious look and feel. I styled it with a bright orange high heel to add a touch of glamour and a pop of colour. The shoes co-ordinate well with the detail on the playsuit and compliment the grey gilet I accessorised it with to take it through to autumn. Working with three main complimentary colours; navy, orange and grey, I finished the look with a silk print scarf that incorporates all of these colours to keep the look perfectly balanced.

Un-nye is a new brand that was founded by Lisa Bean Angwin just last year and already she has received a lot of attention and praise for her designs. Florence Welch has worn one of her floor length playsuits, and she can add Daisy Lowe, Taylor Momsen and Kate Nash to her ever growing celebrity client list. I am excited to see what the future holds for Un-nye, I predict we will be seeing a lot of this eclectic label.
